Making Sweet Valley Herbal Cleaner

Non-Toxic, safe and easy to make

By Anna Randall

Herbs are not only meant to be used to enhance the flavor of your food or used for medicine, they also make wonderful naturally scented cleaners.

They can be added to soaps, creams, and other DIY projects.  Don’t be intimidated to experiment and have fun with your Sweet Valley herbs!

I found this cool all-natural recipe on how to make a lemon verbena non-toxic, all-purpose cleaner.

To begin you will need:

  • A jar that holds 4cups of liquid
  • 3 cups distilled white vinegar
  • Sprigs of lemon verbena or other aromatic Sweet Valley herbs like mint, lavender, thyme or rosemary.
  • 1 Tablespoon of castile soap
  • ¼ cup unscented alcohol or vodka

The first thing you will want to do is gather your Sweet Valley herbs.

You will need enough to pack into your jar, making it about 1/4 full.

Add your vinegar making sure your herbs are covered and allow this concoction to brew for 2 weeks.

Once this step has been completed you can strain the herbs and pour the liquid into a spray bottle. Add the alcohol or vodka and the castile soap.

Now use as a non-toxic cleaner for countertops and glass. Also works well on mold and bacteria because of the vinegar and vodka mix.  You, your family and pets will not have to worry about this safe, fragrant and fun alternative to harsh cleaners.
